To perform a teardown for this lab, perform the following steps:

NOTE: Only remove resources you are sure you will not want to use in the future.

  1. Remove any created QuickSight dashboards created during the workshop

    • Go into QuickSight
    • Select All dashboards
    • Click the 3 dots next to the dashboard name of the dashboard.
    • Click Delete
    • Click Delete
  2. Remove any QuickSight analyses created during the workshop

    • Go into QuickSight
    • Select All analyses
    • Click the 3 dots next to the analysis name [be sure to only remove analyses created during the workshop]
    • Click Delete
    • Click Delete
  3. Remove QuickSight Datasets created during the workshop

    • Go into QuickSight
    • Click Manage data
    • Click on the dataset, we created [names should match the below]
      • CUDOS Dashboard
        • summary_view
        • s3_view
        • compute_savings_plan_eligible_spend
        • ec2_running_cost
        • data_transfer_view
      • Trends Dashboard
        • daily_anomaly_detection
        • monthly_anomaly_detection
        • monthly_bill_by_account
    • Click Delete data set
    • Click Delete
  4. Unsubscribe from QuickSight and Clean-up roles created for it

    • Go into QuickSight
    • On top right select your name, then “Manage QuickSight”
    • Go into Account Settings, click “Unsubscribe”
    • On the next page click “Unsubscribe” again to confirm.
    • Unless you are using them in other services, use the AWS IAM console to remove the IAM (Identity and Access management) roles created by QuickSight copy the role names to a notepad file then go into IAM and delete the roles you are not using.
  5. Remove the Athena views

    • Go into Athena
    • For Each view you created during the workshop, click the 3 dots next to it and select “Delete View”
  6. Remove Cost and Useage Reports (CUR) automation:

    • Go into CloudFormation
    • Select the CloudFormation stack you deployed during the “Prepare CUR & Athena Integration”.
    • Select “Delete” , this will remove the resources deployed.
    • If any resources provide an error, delete these resources manually in the console before continuing.
  7. Remove CUR [Optional]

    • Go into Billing Console
    • Open Cost and Useage Reports (CUR)
    • Select the Cost and Useage report you created earlier, and select “Delete”, confirm you wish to delete, you will then be informed its removed.
